Lysistrata...

Wat lysistrata did in order to refrain the men from war was clever. the main reason y i say this is because it worked, first and foremost, and the simple fact that it was a pretty good idea. She took away from the men wat they all desire, and was the likes of sex. Lysistrata got the women to participate in her experiment, and it turned out successful. The men could not help themselves and gave in to the women for what they wanted.

But do you think it was a good idea??? Well cuz in the end I don't know if the men really made peace to make peace or just to get sum. They wanted their women and relations back so they made peace instead of war, but to me it kinda seems like they missed the whole point of why the women did this-they wanted peace and less conflict and war, and the men may have missed this whole idea...NOt sure, but maybe

I agree, Jenna. The men seem to have more loyalty to sex and money than to their country. I guess it makes sense, though. If your women are pulling away from you, then what home are you even fighting for?

Yes, that is a very good point taking away the sex and love among the families would leave the homes disrupted and shattered. So i guess in a way the men would either fight just to fight for the heck of it or comply with the womens orders. but yea they would have no home to fight for

I agree, the men in Lysistrata did misconceive the whole abstinence thing. The men jus wanted sex..point blank nothing else...hell if they care how their relationships turned out..as long as they were getting sum is all that mattered. the Women were more in it for the peace...(well Lysistrata for sure)..not sex

I dont kno if i would go far as to say I think it was a good idea, but it did work, like you said. I think the men gave in because they figured they weren't going to win against the women anyway, but whatever. You say that the men made gave in for what they wanted, which is sex apparently, and I agree. I guess the thing is...was the women's goal to get peace or to get their men back. If it were to get peace, I don't think their plan worked because I don't think true peace was made. They just quickly agreed on something so that they could get their women in the bed. If the women's original goal was simply to get their men home, then yeah they got exactly what they wanted. Its all about perception of the play.
